No, it’s pretty fugly. It’s also hard to work on and expensive/difficult to get parts for. What saves it is that it’s fast, reasonably comfortable, and can be had cheap used due to the first three items above.

It’s not an unpopular opinion.

I never really liked the styling that much. At a young age, I was fascinated with pop-up headlights, (and there quite a few in the 70s/80s), and knew that a more sleek, hidden design existed.

I remember asking my dad why the headlights were so funny. I don’t remember his answer.

I preferred the earlier ‘shark nose’ versions, with the smaller rear lip instead of the later S4 wing.

Personally, I think the finally got it right when they integrated some of the 928 styling into the 968. That car still holds up.

I never cared for the look of the 928, although I’ve grown to appreciate the bizarreness of it. Now the 944, on the other hand, is gorgeous.

Yes! Of the three (928, 944, 968), the 968 is definitely my favorite. It has the best exterior cues from the 928, combined with the very cool powertrain from the 944 S2. There is something about a “little” 4 cylinder that displaces 3 LITERS that is just plain aweseome.

I used to think that. This is one of the cars that just does not photograph well at all. I won’t say it’s a pretty car, but it has a presence in person that cannot be captured in a picture.
